The most common problem when computing is finding a
comfortable place to rest your mouse. In many cases, keyboards take up
too much space on the keyboard
tray. As a result, users will often rest the mouse on their desk,
which requires an uncomfortably long reach. This causes stress on the
arm, neck and shoulder also known as cumulative
trauma. This practice over time results in pain and injury,
which may require surgery to correct.
Cumulative trauma is preventable with the use of a mouse
tray, also known as mouse pad holders, in conjunction with a keyboard
tray to create an ergonomic workstation. ErgoStoreOnline’s
adjustable, sturdy mouse
trays can be mounted directly onto the keyboard
tray. We carry easy-to-adjust designs that allow for the mouse to be
in the immediate
reach zone of the user, making the user’s reach comfortable and
convenient.
Some of the mouse trays in
our selection may be attached to the keyboard tray itself, with maximum
adjustability. Some swivel out, others slide out and many may be used in
either left or right-hand applications.
The SLD100 is another popular mouse tray in our vast catalog.
The SLD100 mounts securely under the keyboard tray, and slides out to
either the left or right side. This feature is very useful for those who
alternate between left and right-hand mousing throughout the day.
Another of these mouse trays is the SVL600. The SVL600 comes
equipped with two "holsters" that mount on either side of the
user’s keyboard surface. Just plug the mouse tray into the
"holster" and you are ready to go.

When trying to choose the right mouse ask the following questions:
Can I attach to my current keyboard tray?
Installing a mouse tray
requires drilling into your current keyboard
tray. Be sure the tray you are currently using is strong enough to
hold the mounted mouse tray.
It is also important to know if you have enough room to attach the mouse
tray and still put the keyboard away when not in use. If you do not
believe that your keyboard
tray will accommodate a mouse
tray, see our selection of keyboard trays to mix-and-match with a
mouse tray. Some of our keyboard
trays even come with a mouse
tray!

After the required mounting capabilities have been met for a mouse
tray, it becomes a matter of preference. It is time to decide which mouse
tray will best fit your workstation and your work style.
In most cases, it is important to place the mouse
tray close to the user’s body. It is recommended that the mouse
tray be at the same height as the keyboard
tray, placing the arms at a 90 degree angle and the keyboard in a
slight negative tilt. However, this will vary a little from one person
to the next, depending on their height. It is imperative to find the
position that feels most comfortable, and slightly vary that position
throughout the day for ideal computing. |
